Completion.

No more driving what feels like an hour to class after work for me!

I finally finished my certificate in Photography.
Which, in reality doesn't seem like very much but a less expensive piece of paper that holds less weight....yet, I'm still feeling rather accomplished considering how much I have developed my skills in the process.

Learning how to use strobes and establish and push my concept has wildly improved my fashion photography. Time to update the portfolio!

Fall Fashion: 2012

The fall weather has officially set in and the holidays are just around the corner.
In other words, it is the perfect time to begin thinking about what you are going to wear to Thanksgiving dinner and any where us these autumn days might take you.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces:
I love this Romantic Gown. I like to think of how wonderful I would look hosting a holiday dinner in this gorgeous dress.
You can never go wrong with a  Fur Vest. You could pretty much make any outfit look fabulous while wearing fur. Even pajamas.
Dinner at the in-laws? No problem. This Lace Skirt is dashing.
Throw on some dark tights, tall boots and this  Triangle Dress. Just do it.
Is this just not the happiest and coziest Zig Zag Sweater Dress you have ever seen?!
It's getting nippy! Wrap up in a Fox Scarf and look cute AND warm!

And of course, you have to look chic every wear you go even when it is practically freezing outside. This Geometric Coat is perfect.

Designer: Carol Hannah

So, sure she was on Project Runway, but that is not why I'm currently inspired by Carol Hannah.

Carol turned her childhood hobby into her fulltime profession, teaching herself the necessary skills of pattern making and draping. She fuses her southern charm and grace into each design by combining raw details of fabric appliques with organic shapes and classic styles.

Here are a few of my favorite dresses by Carol Hannah:
I love this shoulder detail!
Nothing makes me more excited about a designer than knowing that they started in a similar way and had success.
I hope walking the same path gets me to the same destination!

Design Inspiration: Kate Spade

It's time to redecorate!
And what is better than a Kate Spade themed bathroom?!
I couldn't think of anything either.

Here is some inspiration I gathered for the room. I can't wait!

Take me back to Seattle.

Finally sharing with you some of the quick photos I snapped while I was in Seattle for a fabric show.
I loved this city and I cannot wait to see it again someday! (Hopefully to sell my own things!)
It was such an inspiring place.
Laid back, Crafty, Supportive, Environmentally Friendly, and Healthy.
This was the skyline from a small look out one of the locals directed us to.
Well worth standing out in the cold morning.
They sold gorgeous flowers at the market. Only $5-10 a bouquet!
If I lived there I would buy some every week with my groceries!
They have some rough hills. I have never before had to climd 5 flights of stairs to get to the next street. Good thing they are fitness savvy!
Here this is illegal, but in Seattle, anything goes! I loved seeing all the posters on the telephone poles.
We took a day to visit the markets. One being a vintage and craft fair, the other being mainly produce and cute shops outskirting the action.
I loved this simple ad!
We also got a chance to visit the Chihuly exhibit.
Obviously it was gorgeous.
And then we travelled to Portland to visit fabric stores and designers.
Here was one of our designer stops! Too cute!

It is very limited! So if you see anything you like, RUN to one of the stores and snatch it quick!
Very few will be online. Unless they are sold before hand!

It's finally time!

Yep! You finally get to see the Fall Collection!
I am very proud of these bags and can't wait for you to see them!
a girl named katie. now has labels!
Also, check out the new bag feature of a zip-close interior pocket to keep your personal items contained and cozy.

It's all about fun contrast and leather-look accents.
The tweed bags have a leather-look bottom that can easily be wiped clean.
This bag is big enough to fit a laptop, use as an overnight bag or carry-on, or (if you are like me) a purse!
Look at the little feet!
These bags are made with a soft sueded material and are super cute.
They are the perfect size for carrying your everyday items.
You could easily fit your wallet, cell phone, keys, a book, a planner. etc.!

Grab one for yourself or buy one as a gift!

The new collection can currently be found at Five and Divine and soon Goggle Works.
